Course Description

Build the Linux administration skills that keep enterprise systems secure, stable and available.

Linux supports critical business infrastructure, cloud platforms and modern application environments. However, many IT professionals learn Linux informally, leaving gaps in the everyday skills required to administer systems confidently and troubleshoot issues efficiently.

Red Hat System Administrator is a beginner-friendly, intensive programme based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. Across five instructor-led days, participants progress from command-line fundamentals to practical administration tasks involving users, software, services, networking, storage and security.

No previous Linux system administration experience is required. Concepts are introduced step by step and reinforced through guided demonstrations and individual hands-on labs.

• Access the Linux command line locally and remotely using OpenSSH
• Manage files from the command line and edit text files
• Manage local users, groups and file permissions
• Install and update software using RPM, DNF and Flatpak
• Monitor and manage Linux processes, services and daemons
• Configure network settings and network security with firewalld
• Manage physical storage and logical volumes using LVM
• Access network-attached storage and network file systems
• Schedule system tasks and manage system logs
• Apply essential security controls using SELinux
• Control and troubleshoot the Red Hat Enterprise Linux boot process

Practical and Hands-On Approach

Each participant works in an individual lab environment. Instructor-led explanations and demonstrations are followed by practical exercises based on real administration scenarios, allowing participants to apply each skill immediately.

The final day includes a comprehensive review to consolidate the full week of learning, together with guidance on the Red Hat Certified System Administrator exam (EX200) and possible next steps.

He is Head of Systems & Architecture at La Sentinelle, a Red Hat Certified System Administrator and a SUSE Certified Linux Engineer. He is also an active open-source contributor, openSUSE Board Member and regular technology speaker.
